Roads: Lithuania boasts a well-developed road network and infrastructure; the quality of Lithuanian roads is higher as compared to the neighbouring countries. The total length of highways, national and regional roads is more than 21,000 kilometres, and the road network is more than 67,000 kilometres in total. There are nearly 400 motorway service areas and lay-bys alongside the carriageway, and numerous roadside restaurants, motels, etc. A wide network of filling stations is in place. Six European Routes crosses the Lithuania. The European route E67 or VIA BALTICA Helsinki-Tallinn-Riga-Pasvalys-Panevėžys-Kaunas-Marijampolė-Warsaw-Wrocław-Praha runs at a distance of 20 kilometres from Biržai. |

Railway: 'Lietuvos Geležinkeliai' is the national, state-owned Lithuanian railway company, which operates most railway lines in the country. The broad gauge (1520mm) network consists of more than 1700 km. Before planning to go somewhere by rail, it is necesarry to check the map of Lithuanian railroads first, because not all Lithuanian towns and cities are connected by rail. |

Air transport: Air transport and air connectivity with Lithuania is good. Lithuania has three international passenger airports: in Vilnius (216 kilometres to Biržai) (vilnius-airport.lt/en/) in Kaunas (187 kilometres to Biržai) (kaunas-airport.lt/en/) and in Palanga (302 kilometres to Biržai) (palanga-airport.lt/en/). In total, Lithuania has 27 airports and aerodromes, most of which provide services for private aircrafts. The distance from Riga Airport to Biržai is 110 kilometres (riga-airport.com/en). |

Water transport: It is convenient to travel through Riga, the capital of Latvia, by a seagoing ferry (Tallink), as the distance between Biržai and Riga is around 100 kilometres. Lithuania can be easily reached by a ferry to Klaipėda. Seagoing ferries connect Klaipėda seaport with six Baltic seaports in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Poland (DFDS , Scandlines). Klaipėda has two yacht clubs; one of them is conveniently located in the very centre of the city, next to the terminal for cruise ships (www.yacht.lt, www.lbs.lt). |
