Eldership of Parovėja

Parovėja Eldership is located in the Northeast of Biržai District. The eldership borders with Nemunėlis Radviliškis, Papilis, Širvėna, Biržai city elderships, the Republic of Latvia. The administrative center of the eldership is Parovėja village. There are 85 settlements in the eldership. The size of the territory: 174 km². 

In 2009 Biržai Eldership was divided into 5 smaller local elderships: Būginių, Drąseikių, Medeikių, Parovėjos, Užušilių. 

Famous places in the eldership:

1. The grave and Memorial of Holocaust victims (Paežeriai village)
2. Gudiškis battle location of the January 1863 Uprising, Gudiškis battle place and Insurgents grave
3. The Insurgents grave of the January 1863 Uprising / also known as the "Coal Hill" ("Anglių kalnas")
4. Tomb of the poet, translator, cultural figure Stanislovas Dagilis in Peleniškės cemetery
5. The place of death of Steponas Giedrikas - the last partisan, the commander of Pilėnai Homeland division, in Biržai forest.
