Kučgalys spring has a very interesting origin story. It all began when in 1946 Soviet Russia ran out of oil resources and because of it, Russians started looking for a new oil deposits. They were looking even in Lithuania. Many boreholes were made, however, no oil were found in Biržai region. Instead, a new mineral watter spring started to flow near Kučgalys village.
Now it is a perfect place to stop by and see it for yourself. There is a little park, gazebo for picknicks, camp fire place, and a little parking. The surroundings of the Kučgalys Stream were newly renovated in 2015.
Kučgalys spring flows into near by Apaščia river.
